The first biomethanation and cogeneration installation of GreenWatt is the product of 8 years of R&D. Tests with several kinds of input were executed in laboratories as well as in a pilot project of semi-industrial size.
At the same time, more than 10 feasibility studies of technical and economic nature were conducted for several clients.
At this moment, GreenWatt has built the following units :
- Preindustrial biomethanation and cogeneration pilot project of 10 kWh per day at the farm « Ferme de l’Hosté » in Wavre with the development and demonstration of the “two-step” technology.
- First industrial unit with FAD (Flushing Anaerobic Digestor) methaniser for the processing of roots, leaves and radicles of endives in the endive forcing facility Joluwa in Nivelles: the site produces 100 kW of electricity and 140 kW of thermal energy on the basis of 15 tons of input per day.
GreenWatt also manages tens of installation projects fed by several kinds of input products such as apple pulp, residues of melons, potatoes, carrots and of course the roots of endives. These different units should be built in 2010.
